GCE ‘O’ Level: Biology Paper 3 (SPA)

Just did my Biology SPA (Science Prcatical Assessment) for Skill 3 today.

Like the previous two Bio SPA for Skill 1 and 2, Skill 3 was pretty mangaeable too. The aim of the experiment was really very different from what I had expected and it caught me off guard, but even so, it was still pretty easy.

I spent about ten minutes planning the approach, procedures and stuff before writing the real draft. I finished it with plenty of time left to check for mistakes and things that I might have missed out. I think I did okay. I guess getting full marks is possible, but even if I don’t, I hope I can at least get 3.

I hope my Chemistry and Physics SPA would also be as easy as this or maybe even easier. I also hope that I can do just as well, or preferably better, for the other two Sciences.

GCE ‘O’ Level: Malay Paper 3 (LC)

Yeah well, I just took the Listening Comprehension for Malay GCE ‘O’ Level.

Now Malay ‘O’ Levels are truly over.

Actually…..it might not be…..because I might choose to re-take my Paper 1 and 2. If I don’t get an A, which is highly probable, I think I’m most likely gonna re-take. Even if it might not make a difference, I don’t think it’ll hurt to try.

Anyway, there’s nothing much to say about the LC. It was manageable. A few tough questions here and there, but I think it was okay. I shouldn’t do too bad.

There really isn’t much else to say…..
….Other than the long wait before the start of the examination. I almost slept.

GCE ‘O’ Level: Malay Paper 3 (Oral)

Well, it’s over.

I don’t think I can do very well for this. I think my points were all over the place and I had to pause every once in a while to recollect my thoughts and translate them to Malay, which I must say, was not very successful. I seriously wonder how I could do fairly well for the Mid-Year examination Oral.

I thought the topic was simple enough. But the problem lies in the relaying of opinions and thoughts to the examiners. I thought I had prepared myself well by thinking of all possible questions and answers, but I guess nothing ever goes according to plan. And I suck at being spontaneous, so yeah.

I wanted to ramble more, but can’t seem to think of anything else to rant about. And I’ve pretty much forgotten about the whole oral exam…

Ah well.

LiveJournal

‘Kay, I’ve decided to have a LiveJournal too. Why? No particular reason. But I’ll still be using this though.

The Username is pretty random too. Got it from some random name generator. But sounds okay though.

The blog’s more or less empty because I just created it, so yeah.

I want to explore the features of LiveJournal more and create some mood icons but I need to practice for Oral. What a pain.

Transition

The transition from holiday to school has always been a pain for me. Usually, my mind will still be in the ‘holiday mood’ for the first week of school of a new term. I can never really get my brain and neurons to work properly. My laziness and sleepiness will be at its extreme during this period of time (Not talking about during holidays, that’s worse).

So, I was so damn glad to hear that my GCE ‘O’ Level Malay Oral Examination will not be held this week! I would’ve done badly otherwise. Thank goodness I still got about one more week to prepare and get my brain stimulated again. 8th July. Hmm….that’s when Ikimonogakari’s new single, the 3rd opening song of Naruto Shippuuden, ‘Blue Bird’, will be released….

Anyway, I wonder how I’m going to fare for my Biology test that I took this week….

Moving on, I’ve finally decided to read Psyren, a somewhat new series (Currently 27 chapters) in Weekly Shonen Jump. I’ve been thinking to read it for a while now and finally started this week. I also picked up Code: Breaker. This was done on a whim but it looks promising. I’m also debating on whether I should read Soul Eater or just stick with watching the anime only.

I don’t think reading manga is going to get in the way of my studies because reading one chapter per series every week doesn’t take much time. It’s different with anime though. One episode takes about 24 minutes. A good thing Kure-nai is finished though. Now it’s one anime less. And the first season of Vampire Knight is ending next week too. That will be two anime less. And I think Persona is going to end soon as well.

Oh well, tomorrow’s Awards Day. Yay, I’m going to get vouchers. Boo, I have to go to school.

Reminiscence

The June holidays are coming to an end. How sad. Looks like it’s time to get back to work and prepare for the ever-so-nearer ‘O’ Levels.

Looking back, although three out of the four weeks of holidays were spent at school, this has been one of the ‘better’ holidays I’ve had in years. No, it is not because I like going back to school and no, it’s not because I went overseas during the ‘one week break’.

Even though I technically only had roughly about one week of holiday, I think it was……satisfying. Of course, it would’ve been better if I didn’t have to go to school during the holidays at all, but that’s just wishful thinking. Besides, if there were no school at all, my brain would be dead by the time I get back to school. After all, the brain needs to be stimulated every once in a while.

Okay, so why is this ‘one week break’ one of the ‘better’ holidays I’ve had in a while?

For starters, games. I didn’t get to buy the game I’ve been eyeing because apparently, it’s out of stock in every single game shop that I went to. Yes, it’s that popular. However, I managed to buy not only one but two games within a time frame of less than a week! How lucky! The last time I bought a game was…..what, about months apart from the previous one? So I spent the week playing both games and actually managed to complete the Story Mode of Bleach: The Blade of Fate. The other game I bought was Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games. This one was bought later and at a whim…without telling my parents first….but…whatever….

Aside from games, I also spent the break colouring manga. Quite a fair bit too. Would have coloured more if I had more motivation but too bad I don’t. It would’ve been great if I had bought a tablet, but maybe next time. I still got quite a bit of linearts stored in my computer but don’t know if I’ll get around to colour them. Visit the Gallery for my works. I think I’ve improved.

I would have liked to do more signatures during the holidays but only managed to do one (Obito Uchiha). Why? Simple. Because I was lacking inspiration. The one that I did was inspired by a signature I came across in a forum, so yeah….that’s why I did it. And it turned out very nicely too. Definitely one of my favourites.

Oh, I also picked up a new anime series. Nabari no Ou. It’s not bad at all. About modern ninjas. And talking about anime, I’m at the latest episode for quite a few lot of series. D.Gray-Man, Reborn, One Piece, Bleach, Naruto, Soul Eater, Vampire Knight, Kurenai, Persona and of course, Code Geass are all on track. Not to mention, I also resumed watching Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. Better savour all the anime now than later because I know I’ll be busy once school starts again.

As for manga…? Well, I have always been up-to-date with that. So no worries there. Even when school starts. Though I may start a few new series….the thought is still pending however….

Now, what else?

Ah, music! A bunch of singles came out this holiday, particularly during the one week break. Almost all of them are theme songs for animes and they are great. Gekidou by UVERworld (D.Gray-Man OP), Regret by Mai Hoshimura (D.Gray-Man ED), O2 by Orange Range (Code Geass R2 OP), 88 by L.MC (Reborn OP), Crawl by VELTPUNCH (Nabari no Ou OP), Word of The Voice by FLOW (Persona OP), Resonance by T.M Revolution (Soul Eater OP), Futatsu no Kodou to Akai Tsumi by ON/OFF (Vampire Knight OP). Hmm…thought there was more….oh well.

One more thing, I also went out quite a bit, more than I usually go out during the holiday period. That’s why I was able to buy two games. Oh, and a book too. Manga (3 volumes) as well. I finished reading all of them in the span of a week each though (Mangas and book were bought one week apart, so yeah). Can’t help it. The book was interesting and the mangas were….well, manga. Oh, and I also went out with a friend that came to visit from overseas. It was nice seeing her again.

Oh, and the amount of homework this holiday was surprisingly little. Only Maths, I think. Well, not complaining.

And after about two months, my Air-Conditioner was finally repaired yesterday! Woots!

The ‘Motivational Workshop’ I just had this week was more useful than I thought. And I’m really grateful for that. I hope I’ve changed.

Well, that about sums up my holiday, I guess. Nothing much else to add. Not interesting, yet not as boring as previous holidays.

After Thoughts

Two consecutive posts in a row? Why not just merge it into one?

Because the last post was specifically dedicated for GCE ‘O’ Level Malay.

Moving on…..
Thank goodness today’s Monday. What’s so special about Monday? Code Geass R2 subbed version comes out today! Yes, I’m a fanatic. So? After a week of not watching anime, Code Geass is a nice way to start things off.

*Waits patiently for download to complete*

Besides Code Geass, another way to get my mind off Malay is game. I went out yesterday to WestMall in hopes of finding the game “The World Ends With You”. (What was I doing out when I was supposed to be studying? Well, I just couldn’t take any more Malay.) Sadly, I couldn’t find it in Comics Connection.

So I decided to search for it someplace else today, but I need to go for some Barbeque Party thingy. Maybe it’s still possible to go to IMM after the BBQ, but that’s if my father is not tired. If today’s no good, then perhaps Tuesday, after my remedial, or some other day. If that’s no good either, then I’ll go to Parkway Parade on Saturday. Either way, by Sunday, I should have the game, if I find it. If not, then too bad for me.

GCE ‘O’ Level: Malay

Just took it today. And not feeling too happy about it.

Paper 1 was okay. I had something to write about and wrote quite a lot for Section 2. I just hope it’s full of content and not crap. I’ve always sucked at elaborating, so yeah.

Paper 2 was the same as every other Paper 2 I’ve done as practices (excluding Past Year Papers between 2000 and 2004 - those were rather easy). I think with luck, I can get a B and if by some chance a miracle does befall upon me, then an A. I doubt I can get and A though.

I won’t go into details because it’s troublesome and I don’t want to know how much marks I lost because it may erase what small flicker of hope I have of getting an A.

Anyway, I’ll save the worry of whether to retake this paper for a later time.

“Fillers”

Yeah, well, I named this post “Fillers” because I am currently taking a break from studying. ‘Studying’ here refers to the main ‘plot’ and this ‘break’ is something that is not included in the main ‘plot’. Hence, “fillers”. (This is a reference to a commonly used term for some plots in Animes that are adapted from Mangas.)

Well, even if you didn’t get it, all that there is to know is that I’m taking a rest from studying for the GCE “O” Level Mother Tongue paper that is to be taken on Monday the 26th of May. I did a bit of studying in the afternoon though, before going to sleep that is.

I haven’t really been updating because I’ve been too busy and tired. Since I’m resting now, why not post something? But there’s nothing much going on, really. I didn’t even watched any anime. Okay, so maybe one or two episodes just now, but that’s all for this week. Okay, so I watched Code Geass on Monday, but….whatever.

So what did I do?

I watched videos of Pandas on Youtube. Don’t ask. They’re cute. Especially baby ones. When they’re running. And standing.

I also sketched a couple of pictures. I think I’ll upload them, along with the one of Kyrios I did about a month ago, if I have time at a later date.

I also received my Report Book today. But I won’t bother rambling about them because it’s more or less the same as my Results.

Dilemma

To buy or not to buy. That is the question.

It’s been a long time since I last bought a game, so I was thinking of buying one soon. Soon - as in, possibly today, or in the next one or two weeks.

The game I have in mind is “The World Ends With You” by Square Enix, the creators of Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. It looks very promising and the ratings are quite high. Reviews agree that it’s a very nice game. So why the hesitation?

You see, Malay ‘O’ Levels is just a week away, and I do not want to get distracted by the game. Even though it’s Malay, ‘O’ Levels is ‘O’ Levels. Can’t afford to get a low grade. However, this is only if I get the game today because I may be going out later.

Another problem - is homework. I have a couple of Malay homework that needs to be done. I still have tomorrow and Monday to finish them but if I were to get the game today, or maybe tomorrow, I may get distracted and not be able to finish them. This only applies if I get the game today though, and it’s not as serious as the previous.

Third problem, and possibly the main reason why I’m hesitating, is getting distracted from my studies. My one month school holiday has literally been reduced to only a week. Blame remedials. But that’s beside the point. The point is that I need to concentrate during lessons, else my results will not be great. If I were to get the game, my concentration will most likely waver and….yeah. This might continue after the “holidays” and history will repeat itself (referring to my not-so-good grades).

The good thing about buying the game is that I’ll be able to get my mind off things and relax. But if I were to buy the game, when I buy it is also important. I don’t know if I should buy it this week, or wait till at least Malay ‘O’ Levels is over.

The most logical and rational choice, is of course to not buy the game at all. But I really want it you see because this is me we’re talking about. It’s already hard enough to resist the temptation of buying games for the past months. And now that I found another good game, I don’t want to let this chance slip again. It is the holidays afterall, even though there’s Malay and remedials and stuff.

Teachers keep going on and on about how our studies are really important and all, not that they’re wrong, but they need to remember that, technically, we are still young. So we need to rest and play every once in a while. But that’s just part of me talking.
